What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper?
I would first explain to the person that the main purpose of a scientific paper is to report new results, usually experimental and to relate these results to previous knowledge in the field (Little and Parker, 2009). The advice I would give to someone writing his or her first scientific paper is to make sure that his or her paper is exceedingly clear and concise.

What area do you think you have strengthened in the last 10 weeks?
I think I have strengthened in every area in writing. Most of the information I was taught in Comp I is very different from what I have learned in this course. I use to hate writing papers, but now that I know the different writing methods, I am comfortable with writing papers.

What areas do you feel still need improvement in regards to writing?
I think I still need to work on using more active verbs instead of passive verbs.

Any final thoughts or statements to make before we wrap up?
I just wanted to say that I thought this course was going to be so boring, but I was wrong! I am glad that I had to take this course because it has giving me a new perspective about writing. I wish all of you the best in your future educational and career goals!!

How do I feel now that my paper is almost done?

Hello everyone,

Now that my paper is almost done I feel nervous, accomplished and plain tired! I'm glad that the paper is almost completed but it feels like I'm leaving important things out, but I don't know what the important things are that I am leaving out. Does that sound crazy? The paper may seem finished and good to others but to me it seem like it is not good enough. I always feel this way after I write a paper. However, this course has made writing a little easier for me. I always hated writing for some reason. I don't know why because I always make good grades on writing assignments. One of the main things this course has taught me is to never procrastinate when I have a paper to write, that only make things worse on me. I will be taking the things I have learned in this class and applying them in the rest of the courses that I have left and throughout the rest of my career. I wish everyone the best with their future educational and career goals!

This course has been a great learning experience for me, it has been a little hard because I have never like writing but it has made the writing process much easier. I thought this course was going to be a breeze since I have already taken Comp I, but I have learned that a lot of the things that I learned in Comp I is very much different from the things I've learned in Comp II. But I have to say that this class has been very beneficial to me with the final project. Not only by the feedback from the discussion post but the different ideas that you all have had in your own projects, so I would like to thank you all! I really like peer review because it helps me out a lot with the different suggestions on how I can make my paper better. I never get upset whenever I get bad feedback because I feel that my peers are just trying to help me. I know if I think that my paper is fine, I don't have to redo or reword anything just because it doesn't seem right to someone else. I think that peer review is just a time to get new ideas or maybe even topics that I didn't include in my paper that would enhance my paper. I never think that anything I write is perfect, I always have room for suggestions.

Hello everyone,

I have been struggling for the past month in my other class. I do not know if it because I like this class better or what. For instance, I am almost finish with my final project in this class, but the only thing I have for my other class project is an outline. For some reason, I can not get my mind into the other class, it is so boring! I even did a schedule for the other class. I wrote what time I'm going to do my assignments, quizzes, exams and studying but I never go by the schedule or I will start on it but end on something else. I do not know why I am procrastinating so badly in that class. I really need to get my mind right and continue to do well in that class so I can keep my A average. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get my mind back on track?

What do you think about this??

I want to see what everyone thinks about a situation that is going on in the area that I live (Rockingham, NC), with four sisters in a family. These four sisters are no older than 31 yrs. old and they each have 9 children or more and they are not married. They have mentioned that they have children so that they can get welfare (food stamps), so that they can sell them to take care of their families. Social services are now involved, but they have not done anything about the situation. What do you all think about this??

I think that they should not be able to have anymore kids! I feel that we as taxpayers are taking care of their kids! Social services stay at their house, they go to school saying that they hardly have anything to eat, the kids clothes are always dirty at school (I work at the school, so I see it everyday with my own eyes) and they are always stealing. I really think someone should step up and do something about this situation, the kids are pitiful!! My heart goes out to these children. I have been involved with some of the other teachers who have been washing their clothes and hair at school and buying them new school uniforms! What do you think about this??

Hello everyone,

I can't believe we are almost in the 5th week, time really does fly by!! I'm enjoying this course but it is something about paraphrasing that I don't like. Sometimes it is hard for me to put things in my own words whenever the original wording seems just right! Am I the only one that feels this way??

I think that it is very important to always give a person credit for the work that they have done. I know that I would be upset if I have worked hard and someone tried to take all the credit for something that I wrote.

Well, other than that, I think this class will help me out a lot in my future educational and career goals!
